If you are looking for a teaching position in the U.S. then this site is for you. You can search job openings posted by schools in the US and apply for them through this site.
Why use this site?
Many J-1 teachers feel the need to use a recruiter to find a teaching opportunity in the US. Those recruiters charge placement fees, often thousand of dollars. This site allows you to find a teaching opportunity in the US without using a recruiter. Using this site is free of charge.
What are requirements for teachers?
To qualify for the J-1 visa, you must meet the following requirements:

At the time of application for the visa, you must be working as a teacher in a primary or secondary school in your home country and have at least two years of experience

Have sufficient knowledge of the English language

Have a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s Degree in either Education or the academic subject field in which you intend to teach.
Who is behind this site?
This site is developed and maintained by HTP J-1 Visa Programs, a Department of State designated sponsor of the J-1 Teacher program.
How long can I stay in the U.S.?
The J-1 Teacher visa allows the teacher to stay for up to three years. There is an opportunity to extend for a 4th and 5th year.
How do I obtain a J-1 visa?
As a Department of State designated sponsor, HTP will be able to issue the J-1 visa after you have a confirmed your offer from a US school.
When can teachers start their teaching position?
J-1 visa regulations require that the J-1 teacher start at the beginning of the academic year (mostly in August). With approval from the Department of State, teachers may also be able to start after the Christmas break.

Why use this site?
The most important reason for using this site is that teachers and schools are able to find each other without the use of a recruiter. Many teachers feel forced to use a recruiter and often pay thousands of dollars in placement fees. The resulting financial burden impacts their stay in the United States. What are requirement for schools?
To host a J-1 teacher, the school must meet the following requirements:

Must be an accredited public or private primary or secondary school

Teaching positions must be full time (min. 32 hours per week) of teaching or teaching-related administrative activities

Must start at the beginning of the academic year

J-1 Teachers comply with any applicable collective bargaining agreement

Teaching positions, including duties, responsibilities, hours of employment, and compensation, are commensurate with those of similarly-situated U.S. teachers.

How do I post job openings?
Log in to j1teachers.com, click “schools” and select the school for which you would like to post job openings. Then click on the tab “job offers”, click the + button and add the details for the job openings. Once you click Create, the job openings will be viewable to teachers.
How do I make an offer to a teacher?
Once you have found a teacher that you would like to hire, simply go to their profile and click the “hire” button. Next, the teacher will receive an email informing them of your offer and asking them to accept or decline it. Either way, you will be notified. Once the teacher accepts the offer, HTP will start the process for preparing J-1 visa paperwork.
